Sleep Studies

Sleep plays a very important role in your health. If you have sleep-disordered breathing – or difficulty breathing while you sleep – you can be at risk of health problems, even death, because your oxygen levels drop while you sleep. That puts stress on your body, especially your heart.

Sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea, can contribute to:

  • Heart problems, such as stroke, a-fib and a heart attack
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Increased risk of cancer
  • Increased risk of motor vehicle accidents due to sleepiness

If your provider recommends a sleep study, it’s important you do it. Sleep disorders are treatable after they’re diagnosed.

You must have a referral to schedule a sleep study. MetroHealth’s established team of sleep experts are available for appointments. Call 216-778-5864 or register online.
