Clinical Staff
The clinical staff is made up of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), Physicians Assistants (PAs), Certified Nurse Practitioners (CNPs) and Registered Nurses (RNs) and provide care to patients.
These individuals are an integral part of the care provided by the Department of Neurology and bring a wealth of experience to their roles to greatly impact the patient experience.

General Neurology & Epilepsy Virginia Edwards, APRN-CNP holds a Master's Degree in Nursing from the Francis Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with many years of experience helping neurology patients achieve a state of health and independence. She has a special interest in working with people with epilepsy and seizure disorders. Virginia has provided care to patients at MetroHealth since 2004 when she began as a registered nurse in the Neurosurgical and Spine Intensive Care Unit. Virginia joined the neurology team as an Advanced Practice Nurse in 2007. Virginia believes that enhanced communication and interdisciplinary collaboration are paramount in delivering quality care. |

General Neurology & Stroke Dorothy Hager, APRN-CNP is a board-certified nurse practitioner. She joined Metrohealth in 2020 with several years of neuroscience nursing experience working at the Cleveland Clinic. Her nursing experience includes general neurology, neurosurgery, and cerebrovascular disorders. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Master of Science in Nursing in 2019. Headache & Stroke Rikki Johnson is a board-certified Adult and Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner who has a strong foundation in general neurology but also specializes in stroke, vascular neurology, and botox therapy for migraines. She has been with MetroHealth since 2015. Her extensive nursing background includes general neurology, neurosurgery, and emergency medicine. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Master of Science in Nursing at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. She holds her national board certification with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN). |
