Samudragupta Bora, PhD

Dr. Samudragupta [Sam] Bora is an Associate Professor and the Group Leader of Neurodevelopmental Follow-Up and Outcomes at Mater Research Institute within the Faculty of Medicine at The University of Queensland, Australia. He received his doctoral degree from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand and pursued postdoctoral training at the University of Canterbury, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School. 

A recent graduate of the Pediatrics Leadership Program at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Bora’s expertise and leadership were recognized by peers by electing him as the Chair of the Long-Term Outcomes of High-Risk Babies Subcommittee of the Perinatal Society of Australia and New Zealand for 2019–2021. In addition to clinical research, he is committed to mentoring the next generation of scientists and clinician-scientists. He is on the Executive Committee of the New Century Scholars program, a competitive resident mentorship program to increase the diversity of the academic pediatric workforce in the U.S., currently sponsored by the Academic Pediatric Association, American Board of Pediatrics, and American Pediatric Society.

Dr. Bora’s excellence in teaching and mentoring has been recognized by the Erskine Fellowship, one of the most distinguished honors in New Zealand for international academics, and the institutional Sister Michaeleen Ahern Medal 2019 for excellence in mentoring of junior researchers. Most recently, he was awarded a Leader of the Future Award (Academic) Commendation, citing his leadership and outstanding parallel contributions to research, teaching, and professional service at the Faculty of Medicine of The University of Queensland.
