Conference Details

Primary Care Procedures and Updates; with a  Focus on POCUS. (Point of Care Ultrasound)

On behalf of the Family Medicine Department of The MetroHealth System, we are pleased to invite you to our educational conference.

  • This two-day CME Conference with cover a wide range of current and topical FM topics including wellness, diversity and inclusion.
  • There is also an opportunity to obtain complimentary non CME Nexplanon certification for registered participants.

Program Goals

The conference is to assist primary care physicians and APPs begin to gain the skills and confidence needed to become a competent Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) practitioner as well as provide up to date information on primary care topics.

A 2015 STFM study revealed that one of the main barriers to starting a point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) curriculum in a family medicine residency was lack of trained faculty. The course will cover the basics of POCUS and can be used as a pathway to receive ultrasound privileges and credentialling at MHMC.

The conference will cover the following aspects of POCUS, adapted for full spectrum family medicine training: renal, deep venous thrombosis, IVC assessment, musculoskeletal and soft tissue.

A non-CME free Nexplanon training workshop is available for all interested registrants on May 6th from 1:00pm - 3:00pm. Certification will be presented upon completion. Space is limited to 25 participants, please follow the separate registration link at the end of this form.
