Summary

Dr. Makowski is an Instructor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the MetroHealth System and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Medicine. His research is focused on developing and testing interventions to improve movement after stroke. The goal is to develop neuroprosthetic systems tailored to stroke survivors’ individual needs that assist stroke survivors’ movements to improve function and independence. Experiments include testing implanted stimulation systems as well as surface stimulation to understand stimulation’s effect on control of movement. Additionally, he is involved in clinical studies evaluating therapeutic interventions to improve hand function and should pain after stroke.
