Dr. Roach an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the MetroHealth System and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Medicine. She also holds an appointment as a Senior Scholar in the Center for Research and Policy at the MetroHealth System/CWRU. She is a Sociologist with specialties in urban and medical sociology. CWRU/MHS. Dr. Roach serves as Co-PI for SCI Model System grant funded by the National Institute for Disability and Rehabilitation Research. Her research interests lie in the areas of disparities in health care, social determinants of health, sociological research methodology, medical decision making. Her recent research has focused on merging of large administrative and patient centered databases to understand and predict long-term rehabilitation outcomes. Underlaying all her research is the goal of developing scientific means through which social issues can be studied and quantified in the service setting through surveys, in-depth qualitative interviews and large secondary data sources. Dr. Roach encourages and includes persons from the population(s) under study throughout the research process.
