Location: The Glick Center
Description: Assisting with tasks specific to Departmental requests: representing MetroHealth for Community Events, Recruitment events, Simulation events, Races, Fairs and Programs. Task may include greeting, wayfinding, materials distribution, compiling swag, providing information on MetroHealth programs.
Volunteers Needed: As needed Minimum Five projects per year.
Commitment Required: 6 months

Description: Greet patients and visitors. Escort patients and visitors to their destination.
Volunteers Needed: Weekdays for three-hour shifts between 8 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Commitment Required: One shift per week for 6 months

Locations:
Description: Make weekly phone calls to patients in their homes to help combat loneliness and social isolation.
Volunteers Needed: Phone calls are made from volunteer’s home.
Commitment Required: Minimum 3 months

Description: Visit outpatients in treatment rooms and offer comfort items. Answer call lights.
Volunteers Needed: Weekdays 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. or 12:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Commitment Required: 3 months
Minimum Age: 18
Location: MetroHealth Medical Center, Main Campus
Description: Interact with and provide activities for infants and children in a playroom and at the bedside.
Volunteers Needed: Weekdays 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. or 3:00 to 5:00 pm
Commitment Required: 6 months
Minimum Age: 18 and high school graduate
Location: The Glick Center
Description: Provide emotional support and comfort measures to women during labor and delivery. Completion of doula training offered by Doulas of North America (DONA) is required.
Volunteers Needed: On call
Commitment Required: 6 months. If volunteering to complete certification requirements, must attend a minimum of six births.
Minimum Age: 18
Location: MetroHealth Medical Center, Main Campus
Description: Round on patients and offer non-medical assistance to patients and families. Please note: This is not an observational experience.
Volunteers Needed: Weekdays and weekends for three-hour shifts between 8 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. Commitment Required: 3 months

Additional Training: Emergency Volunteers must complete a mandatory virtual emergency volunteer orientation and in-person emergency department tour.
Description: Visit patients and distribute comfort items to enhance patients' experience during their stay.
Volunteers needed: Daily 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Commitment Required: 6 months

Description: Provide nurturing support in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit by holding and comforting infants.
Volunteers Needed: All shifts are currently full. Thank you for your interest.
Commitment Required: One shift per week for one year

Location: MetroHealth Medical Center, Main Campus
Description: Bring your dog to visit patients and families. Dogs must be certified through Alliance of Therapy Dogs, Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs, Therapy Dogs International or Pet Partners.
Volunteers Needed: Weekdays and weekends. One-hour shift.
Commitment Required: Must volunteer at least twice per month for at least 6 months.

Description: Volunteers help the community overcome barriers to healthy eating by distributing healthy foods to MetroHealth families, Volunteers will bag and hand out produce to qualified participants
Volunteers Needed:
Every Third Tuesday of the month (Medical Center) 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Every Fourth Friday of the month (Parma) 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Commitment Required: 6 months

Description: Volunteers help people with chronic diseases overcome barriers to healthy eating by providing education and healthy foods
Volunteers Needed:
Wednesday 12:30 p.m. – 3 p.m., 3 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Thursday 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Friday 9 a.m.– 11:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Commitment Required: 6 months

Location: MetroHealth Medical Center
Description: Patients and family members share critical insights on opportunities for improvement within The MetroHealth System. Staff and Patient and Family Advisors collaborate on projects centered around experience, safety, quality, process improvement and environmental design.
Volunteers Needed: Scheduled as needed for council meetings, committee work or speaking engagements.
Commitment Required: Minimum 1 year

Location: MetroHealth Old Brooklyn Medical Center
Description: Provide non-technical assistance as directed by therapist. Escort patients in wheelchairs.
Volunteers Needed: Weekdays 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. or 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Commitment Required: 3 months

Description: Read books to children waiting for outpatient appointments.
Volunteers Needed: Weekdays 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Location: MetroHealth Medical Center, Main Campus
Description: Serve as the host or hostess of this special room and help provide a friendly, relaxing and supportive environment to families that are dealing with the illness of their child.
Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are extensions of the Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland that provide an area of respite for families to use while remaining close to their child’s bedside.
Volunteers Needed: Four-hour shifts, Weekdays 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Commitment Required: 6 months
Minimum Age: 18
Location: The Glick Center
Description: Trained peer mentors who have survived traumatic injuries/experiences visit with newly injured patients and families to offer emotional support, hope, and encouragement. Volunteer visits are completed in-person at MetroHealth Medical Center or by telephone on a case-by-case basis.
Volunteers Needed: Weekdays/Scheduled as available
Commitment Required: Minimum 3 months (Visit at least once per month)
