Visit our green space for good health and healing
MetroHealth is known for quality care and excellent staff, but it is less well known for its beautiful campus with abundant green space. The Main Campus green space is deserving of greater recognition, praise, and utilization.
Research has shown that green space is healing and can lead to faster recovery times for patients and a reduction in stress for hospital staff.
Through a grant from MetroHealth’s Harold H. Brittingham Memorial Library, author Jill Collins has written and illustrated Know Your Neighbors: Plants at MetroHealth, to give staff, patients, and visitors more information about the plants here and their role in healing.
We hope our patients and visitors have a chance to get outside and experience the green space at MetroHealth.
And please feel free to download a copy of Know Your Neighbors: Plants at MetroHealth to take with you.
The Glick Center cares about the planet
MetroHealth is redefining healthcare by going beyond medical treatment to improve the foundations of community health.
What You Can Do To Help: Recycling
Look for the green recycling label on cans in public areas and green bins in other areas to recycle your beverage containers, newspapers, and paper without patient information. We can’t accept coffee cups of any kind.
All other waste should go in the trash cans.
A Green Approach
In planning for and building The Glick Center, it was important to us to prioritize its broader impact.
We’re proud to say that The Glick Center will be certified by the U.S. Green Building Council as a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) building and by the International WELL Building Institute, guaranteeing that it will have a lower impact on the environment and a positive impact on human well-being.
Assisting you with your hospital discharge
Hours of operation 11 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
When patients are ready to go home, we may transfer them to our Discharge Hospitality Center (DHC) on the ground floor of the hospital. As patients wait for their rides, our DHC team can assist with questions about discharge instructions, medications or follow-up care.
If you are picking up a patient from the DHC, please call 216-778-1233 when you arrive. Patients can be picked up at the Emergency Department entrance on Scranton Road. MetroHealth caregivers will assist patients to their transportation.
