MetroHealth Achieves Nine Years of ACO Savings
Published on 07/13/2026
The MetroHealth System has now achieved nine consecutive years of savings in value-based care programs with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Operating its Accountable Care Organization (ACO) as Collaborative Care Partners LLC, MetroHealth continues its long track record of cost control below CMS benchmarks for Medicare patients.
MetroHealth has earned Medicare shared savings exceeding $31 Million over the past nine years. CMS’ most recently completed performance year – 2024 under the Accountable Care Organization Realizing Equity, Access, and Community Health (ACO REACH) Model – included $1.35 Million in savings for MetroHealth’s ACO. The ACO REACH model represents a significant effort by CMS to improve healthcare delivery for Medicare beneficiaries through enhanced coordination and support for providers, with ongoing adjustments to ensure its effectiveness and sustainability.
“The dedicated and unified efforts across The MetroHealth System as well as its Population Health Innovation Institute brought extraordinary care to our patients and outstanding population health results to our value-based CMS model,” said Nabil Chehade, MD, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Transformation, Innovation and Strategy Officer for The MetroHealth System. Dr. Chehade is also Chair of the ACO’s Governing Board.
ACOs are groups of doctors, hospitals and other healthcare providers who come together to provide coordinated care to their Medicare patients. The goal is to ensure that patients get the right care at the right time while avoiding unnecessary care, averting duplication of services and preventing medical errors.
