MetroHealth Expands Access To Care With New Outpatient Health Center

CLEVELAND, Ohio – On Monday, July 27, The MetroHealth System opened its new Outpatient Health Center, a transformative $220 million addition to its Main Campus that will expand access to care, enhance the patient experience and support the future of healthcare delivery in Greater Cleveland.

The 300,000-square-foot facility was designed around the needs of patients and their families, bringing dozens of services together in one convenient location. Highlights include a 24/7 drive-thru pharmacy, expanded clinical areas, larger exam rooms, connected parking and intuitive wayfinding that makes it easier to access care. The new facility represents MetroHealth’s continued investment in the people of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County and builds on the momentum of The Glick Center, the 720,000-square-foot hospital tower that opened in 2022. Together, these projects reflect MetroHealth’s commitment to providing exceptional care in the historic and culturally diverse Clark-Fulton neighborhood while strengthening its role as the region’s leading safety-net health system.

The Outpatient Health Center was designed to meet the evolving expectations of patients and employees in a post-pandemic healthcare environment while providing the flexibility needed to adapt to future advances in medicine and care delivery. Highlights include:

• 24/7 Drive-Thru Pharmacy: Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the pharmacy provides round-the-clock access to prescriptions for anyone in the community, whether or not they are a MetroHealth patient.
• Expanded Cancer Center: Spanning two floors, the Cancer Center brings medical oncology, radiation oncology and infusion services together in one location, making it easier for patients to access advanced diagnostics, leading-edge treatments and comprehensive support services.
• Center for Breast Health: Designed to create a calming and supportive experience, the Center for Breast Health co-locates screening mammography, diagnostic imaging and clinical care. Patients can receive additional imaging or biopsies, when needed, without having to travel to another location.
• Pediatric Care: More than half of the fifth floor is dedicated to pediatric services, including 39 child-friendly exam rooms designed to help children feel more comfortable and families feel supported throughout their visit.
• Art and Healing Environment: The Outpatient Health Center was designed to promote comfort and healing through art and natural light. The building features more than 1,000 pieces of artwork by more than 265 artists, including 17 major commissioned works created by local artists. MetroHealth partnered with Cleveland-based LAND studio to identify art locations and artists whose work reflects the diversity and spirit of the community.
• Designed for Access and Growth: The 300,000-square-foot facility is expected to accommodate about 450,000 outpatient visits each year, helping MetroHealth meet growing demand while improving convenience and access to care.
