Relaxation Exercises
Learning how to relax your body and mind is an essential tool to help with the physical and emotional changes with cancer.
Relaxation skills, including deep breathing practice, mindfulness, guided imagery, and meditation can be learned with practice. They have no negative side effects, and once you learn them are skills you can use for life. They are free to use, and can help with stress management, pain management, sleep, and anxiety.
We recommend that you practice the skills daily to gain mastery for 5-15 minutes. Practicing the skills regularly can be helpful in preventing symptoms, and then, you will be able to best use the skills in times of stress in the future.
