Nursing Department Shadowing

As part of our mission, vision, and STAR-IQ (service to others, teamwork, accountability, respect, inclusion and diversity, and quest for excellence) values we would like to help cultivate the impressionable minds of our community’s youth by increasing their exposure to the nursing profession.

College Shadowing

Are you currently enrolled in a college program pursuing a degree and considering nursing? We welcome you to come shadow at our Main Campus for a four-hour experience in a department of your interest.

“This was an amazing experience! I have always had a special place in my heart for Metro and was leaning towards employing here as a nurse after I graduate. I have had opportunities elsewhere and been doing a lot of thinking but this experience and the interaction I have had with every staff member along the way has really sealed the deal. I have my sights set firmly on employment here in the near future.”

Nursing Career Exploration Program (NCEP)

This is a unique opportunity for high school students who exhibit an interest in the nursing field. We welcome you to a day of shadowing during which each student will have the chance to shadow two different units. See the dates for 2025 below.

High School to Healthcare - Career Pathway

This program is for current or recently graduated high school seniors interested in a career in healthcare without going the traditional college route.

We invite those interested to join us for a tour of the hospital to gain insight into the various areas and hear about career opportunities available to them immediately after graduating high school.
