Program Requirements

ABPTRFE Requirements

The MetroHealth Neurologic PT Residency adheres to the Quality Standards set forth by the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE) for the development and continuous improvement of the program.

Per ABPTRFE, residency programs require participants to complete a minimum of 1,800 total program hours, including 300 educational hours and 1,500 patient-care clinic hours inclusive of 150 hours of 1:1 mentoring throughout the program.   

 

MH Residency Structure

  • Each cohort includes up to 2 residents
  • Full time 12-month program, starting in July
  • Employment through the MetroHealth System for the duration of residency year with health benefits, paid time off and reimbursement for up to $2500 for continuing education. 
  • Clinical education with direct patient care ~32 hours per week, including one-on-one clinical mentorship ~3-4 hours per week.
  • Didactic education ~8 hours per week, including unique clinical observations, service opportunities, teaching experiences in local DPT programs, and research involvement.
  • Other program expectations include self-study, web-based learning modules, journal club, and ongoing residency projects.
