- Occupational Therapy Hand Therapy Fellowship Program
The MetroHealth Occupational Therapy Hand Therapy Fellowship Program is a 12-month, advanced training program in outpatient occupational therapy. Our program is designed for licensed and registered occupational therapists to train toward advanced expertise in hand therapy and upper extremity rehabilitation.
As a team member in MetroHealth’s Hand and Upper Extremity Center, the fellow will receive education in upper extremity rehabilitation with a strong emphasis on traumatic orthopedic and neurological injuries, including burns and amputations. This will be achieved through didactic education, clinical evidence-based practice, mentorship, and service. The fellow will be expected to provide outpatient hand and upper extremity rehabilitative services to diverse populations at multiple locations throughout the Cleveland metropolitan area.
Develop occupational therapists to become dedicated advanced upper extremity and hand therapy practitioners who promote health and quality of life for all individuals, through mentorship, inter-professional collaboration, integration of clinical learning experiences, evidence-based practice, teaching, community service, and professional opportunities. Graduates are trained with the knowledge and experience to contribute to a certification in hand therapy.
MetroHealth is currently pending accreditation by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
