Artificial intelligence systems increasingly shape how people access health information, make medical decisions, and receive care. In scientific research, AI is being used for everything from literature screening to generating research questions and study designs. Its potential to revolutionize health research is immense, but so are the ethical, societal, and scientific concerns. Not everything is ready for prime time, and everyone seems to be in such a hurry. Drawing on Arthur C. Clarke's famous observations about technology and the limits of what is possible, this presentation will explore a range of AI-related topics relevant to health researchers, including the promise, perils, and limitations of AI.
With more than 30 years at Case Western Reserve University and 25 years at MetroHealth, Dr. Thomas Love has made significant contributions to biostatistics, data science, and health policy. A Fellow of the American Statistical Association and dedicated educator, his work connects data with real-world patient health.
