I am an Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University and an attending emergency physician at The MetroHealth System in Cleveland, Ohio. As the inaugural EMS Fellow for the program, I have continued to play an active role in the education and mentorship of future EMS physicians. 

My professional interests include rural EMS, prehospital emergency care, and EMS medical direction.

I serve as Medical Director for Metro Life Flight ALS Ground Transport and provide medical direction for the South Lorain County Ambulance District, Wellington Fire Department, and Rochester Fire Department.

My career in EMS spans every level of prehospital care, beginning as a volunteer EMT-B and firefighter with the South Central Fire District in Fredericksburg, Ohio, followed by service as a paramedic with Swiss Valley Ambulance. I later served as a flight physician, medical command resident physician, Emergency Medicine resident, EMS Fellow, and Associate Medical Director for the City of Cleveland before assuming his current leadership roles.

I was raised in the Amish community and am fluent in both English and Pennsylvania Dutch, a dialect of German, allowing me to effectively communicate with Amish patients and communities.

Before pursuing medicine, I worked at and was a partial owner of Mrs. Miller's Homemade Noodles in Fredericksburg, Ohio, reflecting the unique path that led me to a career in emergency medicine and EMS.
