My MetroHealth Story: Jon Pressnell
Published on 07/15/2026
For 189 years, MetroHealth has been known for saving lives – especially in moments of crisis. From Northeast Ohio’s premier Level I Adult Trauma Center to its nationally recognized rehabilitation hospital, MetroHealth has long been a place where healing begins.
For Jon Pressnell, Chair of the MetroHealth Foundation Board of Directors and Partner at Blue Point Capital Partners, MetroHealth is more than a hospital. It’s part of his family’s story.
“My grandmother came to City Hospital, now MetroHealth, when she was a little girl,” Jon recalls. “She contracted polio and was treated in an iron lung. The care she received saved her and, ultimately, allowed her to walk again. That lifesaving care is the reason I’m here today.”
That experience left a lasting impression, one that shaped Jon’s values and his commitment to community health. So, when it came time to choose his own care, the decision was clear.
“I knew exactly where I wanted to be – at the place that supported my family when we needed it most.”

Today, Jon receives his care at MetroHealth, where he’s more than a patient. He’s known. His primary care physician, Dr. Raisa Lerner, listens deeply and guides him through his health journey. As a Spry member, Jon benefits from coordinated care and convenient access to prescriptions, screenings and wellness services – all in one place.
“They know me here,” Jon says. “They know my history, my goals. To me, this is more than a hospital or an exam room. It’s a place where I am heard and understood.”
That personal connection is what drives Jon’s leadership as Chair of the Foundation Board. A dedicated member since 2016, he’s helped shape the Foundation’s strategy and impact, always with the mission in mind.
“Growing up with parents who were social workers, I had giving back to the community instilled in me as a core belief, and I’ve always believed in the power of healthcare to uplift entire communities,” Jon shares. “MetroHealth’s mission reaches far beyond the hospital’s walls into schools, neighborhoods and homes.”
Programs like the Institute for H.O.P.E.™ and the School Health Program embody that mission, meeting people where they are and addressing the social drivers of health.
“That legacy of life-saving care and community service fuels my commitment,” Jon says. “Serving as Board Chair is my way of honoring the care that changed my family’s story and helping ensure others receive that same support.”
For Jon, MetroHealth is part of Northeast Ohio’s history – and it’s part of his own. And as he leads the Foundation Board, he does so with gratitude, purpose and a deep belief in the power of care.
