Our new Outpatient Health Center is now open!

On September 2, The MetroHealth Foundation welcomed members of the Generations Society to the Glidden House for a special luncheon thanking donors whose thoughtful philanthropic planning is helping shape the future of healthcare in Northeast Ohio.

The Generations Society honors individuals who have made commitments to MetroHealth through estate plans, donor-advised funds, charitable trusts and other forms of planned and strategic giving.

During the luncheon, MetroHealth President and CEO Christine Alexander-Rager, MD, shared an update on the health system and its vision for the future.

"MetroHealth is entering a new era," Dr. Alexander said. "As we look ahead, our vision is to become Northeast Ohio's Home for Health: a place that provides exceptional care, advances medical discovery, trains future healthcare professionals and improves the health of our entire community."

She spoke about MetroHealth's continued investment in primary care, community-based programs, innovation and transformational initiatives that address the needs of patients both inside and outside the hospital setting.

"Your generosity helps us care for patients today. Your vision helps us build what's possible tomorrow. And your legacy will strengthen MetroHealth for generations to come," she said.

Guests also heard an inspiring presentation from Aparna Roy, MD, Chair of Pediatrics and Executive Director of the Community Health Enterprise Unit, who shared how investments in children and families are creating lasting change across generations.

Drawing on both patient experiences and her own personal journey, Dr. Roy emphasized that improving children's health requires more than medicine alone. Access to safe housing, transportation, nutritious food, educational opportunities and family support can profoundly influence a child's future.

"Not every child needs a million-dollar operation, but every child deserves a million-dollar future," Dr. Roy said. "Both investments change lives."

She said that philanthropy helps MetroHealth address challenges before they become crises, creating opportunities that can alter the trajectory of a child's entire life.

"What makes this work possible is a community that chooses to invest in children before they can invest in it themselves," Dr. Roy said. "Looking around this room, I see people who understand that lasting change happens not only through medicine, but through vision, compassion and commitment."

The MetroHealth Foundation is deeply grateful to the members of the Generations Society, whose thoughtful generosity is creating a lasting legacy of healthier lives and healthier communities.
