SUMMARY
Dr. Fu is faculty in the Departments of Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering, as well as Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Case Western Reserve University and the MetroHealth System. His research mission is to develop and deploy therapeutic human-computer interfaces that improve function to people with neurological injury. He has expertise creating adult and pediatric neurorehabilitation interventions that integrate video games, immersive virtual/mixed reality displays, and functional electrical stimulation. Motor learning interventions he created for people with spinal cord injury, stroke, cerebral palsy, and vestibular dysfunction are currently undergoing clinical trials. He is actively leading transdisciplinary teams of electrical engineers, biomedical engineers, and rehabilitation scientists to investigate novel functional electrical stimulation techniques to maintain participant effort during occupational therapy and provide sensory feedback.
