Professor of Medicine and Sociology with Tenure
Dr. Adam Perzynski joined the Case Western Reserve University Center for Health Care Research and Policy within The MetroHealth System as faculty in 2008. His current work is focused on examining the specific mechanisms through which social factors influence health and clinical care over the life course. His broad research interests include medical sociology, health disparities, social determinants of health, structural equation modeling, and qualitative and mixed methods. His edited book, Health Disparities: Weaving a New Understanding with Case Narratives brings a compassionate, broad approach to educating health professionals about how social circumstances shape lives and health outcomes. Dr. Perzynski has recently spearheaded efforts to enrich multi-sector collaborations with a combination of large databases and community centered qualitative evidence. As a transdisciplinary scientist, his publications span many disciplines and stand out against the backdrop of a career long effort to infuse the study of biomedical scientific problems with the knowledge, theories and methods of social science.
