Metro Life Flight offers a number of educational opportunities for pre-hospital and hospital providers in order to enhance patient care.

Metro Life Flight Critical Care Symposium

Save the date! The 38th Annual Metro Life Flight Critical Care Symposium will be March 19-20, 2021.

Annual Trauma Case Review

The Annual Trauma Case Review features regional fire/EMS agencies, Metro Life Flight crews and MetroHealth trauma surgeons.

Landing Zone Training

Metro Life Flight offers landing zone training to help prepare first responders to safely set-up an LZ for an emergency helicopter scene response. This presentation is eligible for EMS CE credit.

Lectures

Metro Life Flight offers free continuing education lectures, case reviews and will consider developing a specific topic to meet your educational needs for the purpose of improving outcomes in your community. MetroHealth Medical Center is an approved continuing education site by the State of Ohio Board of Emergency Services, Approval #1202.

MetroHealth Life FlightTransport Observation Program

The Metro Life Flight Transport Observation Program (TOPS) is available to public safety, pre-hospital and hospital personnel. 

Fly with us for one eight-hour day shift (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and learn about our program, patient care and aircraft safety. You may choose from one of three bases in Lorain, Portage or Wayne Counties.

The safety and well-being of our patients, employees and the community is very important, and in order to minimize the potential risk to our observers from COVID-19, Metro Life Flight will be temporarily suspending the Transport Observation Program in accordance with guidelines from The MetroHealth System. We will re-evaluate and provide updates on a quarterly basis.

Who Can Observe:

  • Public safety personnel (Police / Fire / EMS / Dispatchers)
  • Medical personnel (Paramedics / Nurses / Physicians)
  • We are not accepting students at this time.

Requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Good physical health
  • Weight must be less than 220 lbs.
  • Must present proof of certification / licensure upon arrival to base

Riders must review, print and sign the TOPS Guidelines form in order to observe a flight. Please bring the form with you on your scheduled day.
