Quilts for Kids was founded in 2000 by Linda Arye in Philadelphia. Michele Merin learned about the organization from a friend and started making quilts for the organization. Fast forward to 2024, and Michele is now the Northeast Ohio representative for Quilts for Kids.MetroHealth volunteers holding a quilt

“Everything is done with donations, and I do all the orchestrating: cutting the kits, finding people to help sew and washing everything before giving MetroHealth and other area hospitals the quilts,” says Michele.

In 2023, Michele told MetroHealth “this year was my best ever of 412 quilts.”

This year, Michele and the quilters brought 50 baby quilts to MetroHealth.  In total, Quilts for Kids donated 341 quilts to NICUs in the Cleveland area.
