A Group Concept Mapping Study of Client and Clinician Perspectives on Scaling up HIV PrEP and doxy-PEP in Primary Care
This event is In Person.
9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Nate Albright, PhD, RN, FNP-BC, AAHIVS
Speaker will present in person in Rammelkamp R219.
Expanding HIV and STI prevention in the age of biomedical interventions such as preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and doxycycline postexposure prophylaxis (doxy-PEP) requires input from the stakeholders who are essential to awareness, uptake, and persistence within this care continuum.
This work engages end-users (i.e., providers and patients) to understand the nuances of implementing biomedical prevention in the primary care setting.
Dr. Albright is a nurse scientist with a focused interest in improving the clinical environment for populations disproportionately impacted by infectious diseases, particularly human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). His clinical practice in infectious diseases informs his scholarly inquiry into enhancing both patient and provider experiences through the application of frameworks such as trauma-informed care and shared decision-making. His NIH-funded work examines converging and diverging perspectives of primary care clinicians and sexual and gender minority (SGM) patients to improve awareness, uptake, and persistence of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and doxycycline post-exposure prophylaxis (doxy-PEP) in primary care settings.
