About Me
I’m a native Clevelander and a lifelong fan of the Browns, Guardians, and Cavs. I’ve always believed in the power of community—and that’s a big part of why I chose medicine and why I’ve stayed committed to serving patients in Northeast Ohio.
I’m a proud Buckeye, graduating from The Ohio State University in 1981 and earning my medical degree there in 1986. I trained in cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology at University Hospitals of Cleveland, and in 1993, I joined the MetroHealth System because I wanted to be part of a team that delivers exceptional care to each and every patient.
As a heart rhythm specialist, I focus on diagnosing and treating conditions like atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias. I believe in making complex heart issues easier to understand, and I work closely with my patients to help them feel informed, supported, and confident in their care.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in leadership roles at MetroHealth, including Chief of Cardiology. I’ve also served as President of the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Cardiology and President of the Cleveland Division of the American Heart Association. In 2012, I joined the Leadership Cleveland program to deepen my commitment to improving health across our region.
Whether you’re newly diagnosed or navigating long-term heart rhythm care, I’m here to help you stay in rhythm—and stay well.
My research career has spanned several decades and has focused on healthcare quality. I have served on several national committees and served as the Chair of the American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines Atrial Fibrillation Work Group for 8 years. This project improved the quality of care for atrial fibrillation patients and spawned numerous peer reviewed papers. This culminated in my promotion to Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University in 2011 and I was the recipient of the Louis Rakita, MD, David S. Rosenbaum, MD and Maurice Moss, MD Professor of Cardiology endowed Chair at Case Western Reserve University from May 31, 2014 to May 31, 2024.
