About Me
Dr. Sweeney (she/her) is a practicing Family Physician and former National Health Service Corps scholar who has been with MetroHealth since 2018. Her clinical work focuses on primary care, prevention, chronic disease management and harm reduction for historically marginalized and at-risk people.
In 2022, she joined PHRI/CHEEER as a PHRI Research Fellow. She received the PHRI Pilot Grant (2023) for her community participatory project focused on the complex needs of firearm injury survivors and their families. She continues to work collaboratively with community organizations and trauma care providers on research to better support those impacted by firearm violence.
She has a wide range of research interests reflecting her pragmatic and broad-scope primary care background and she prioritizes centering those with direct-lived experience in research and healthcare decision making. She has experience in building community participatory teams, qualitative methods as well as quality improvement.
