About Me

Joined MetroHealth: 2012
Title(s): Division Director of Gastroenterology & Hepatology; Medical Director of Digestive Health Center,Division Director of Gastroenterology & Hepatology
Academic Affiliations: Professor, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine

I’m the Division Director of Gastroenterology & Hepatology and Medical Director of the Digestive Health Center at MetroHealth. I’ve been part of this incredible community since 2012, and I’m proud to care for patients while also helping lead innovation in digestive health.

I specialize in conditions affecting the esophagus, including acid reflux (GERD), swallowing disorders, and other gut-brain interaction issues. My goal is to help patients feel better, understand their condition, and regain confidence in their health. Whether you’re dealing with chronic symptoms or seeking answers after years of discomfort, I’m here to listen and guide you toward effective, personalized treatment.

In addition to my clinical work, I’m a professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and actively involved in research and education. I’ve published extensively and work with national and international organizations to improve how we diagnose and treat digestive disorders.

Above all, I believe in compassionate, evidence-based care. Every patient deserves to feel heard and supported—and I’m committed to making that happen.

Dr. Fass's research has focused on DGBI, specifically esophageal disorders, such as functional esophageal disorders, GERD, BE, dysphagia, esophageal dysmotility and others. He has received research grants from societies, academic and federal institutions as well as drug and device companies.
