About Me
I’m a board-certified pediatric intensivist and hospitalist at MetroHealth Medical Center and Case Western Reserve University. I care for critically ill children and adolescents, and I’m passionate about combining advanced medical expertise with compassion and clear communication—especially during the most challenging moments for families.
My journey began in India, where I earned my medical degree before moving to the U.S. to complete my pediatrics residency at MetroHealth and a pediatric critical care fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. I’ve trained extensively in managing complex conditions like respiratory failure, sepsis, and post-surgical recovery, and I believe deeply in a team-based, family-centered approach to care.
At MetroHealth, I also lead quality improvement efforts and stay actively involved in medical education—mentoring residents, guiding ICU training, and helping shape the curriculum. I’m committed to making high-quality care accessible to all children, especially those in underserved communities, and I find great meaning in supporting families and training the next generation of pediatricians.
My research interests converge at the intersection of pediatric critical care, infectious diseases, quality improvement, and medical education, with a focus on enhancing outcomes for vulnerable children in high-acuity settings. I develop and evaluate interventions to improve safety, consistency, and effectiveness, such as optimizing non-invasive respiratory support for bronchiolitis (e.g., high-flow nasal cannula and neurally adjusted ventilatory assist), implementing clinical pathways to reduce practice variability, and leveraging data-driven tools for early deterioration recognition. I've led studies on neonatal herpes simplex virus evaluations, all-terrain vehicle injuries in rural areas, antibiotic stewardship in ICUs, hepatitis C screening in high-risk adolescents, and COVID-19's impact on pediatric respiratory viruses.
Passionate about simulation-based education, I investigate how immersive simulations enhance team communication, procedural competency, and crisis management in critical care training, empowering teams to deliver better care.
I also prioritize health equity and access, addressing disparities like direct PICU discharges in rural settings, factors influencing antibiotic use, and social determinants in pediatric trauma and infections. My multi-state experience informs a lens on system-level inequities, advocating for scalable, equitable solutions.
Future pursuits include data science for critical care analytics to translate findings into actionable protocols. With over 20 peer-reviewed publications and presentations at conferences (e.g., SCCM, AAP), I aim to bridge research and practice for improved efficiency and equity in pediatric care.
