Statement from The MetroHealth System about Trauma Services

Published on 01/15/2026

The MetroHealth System issued the following statement about Cleveland Clinic’s plans to pursue a Level I Trauma Center:

MetroHealth is alarmed for our community and calls on the Cleveland Clinic to reevaluate its plans. Like similarly sized metropolitan areas, Greater Cleveland cannot sustain three Level I Trauma Centers. It will harm patient outcomes and increase costs for the entire community.
