MetroHealth Opens New Pharmacy at Brooklyn Health Center
Published on 04/15/2025
The MetroHealth System recently celebrated the opening of a new retail pharmacy – the health system’s 12th – at its Brooklyn Health Center (5208 Memphis Ave.).
The opening fills a need in the area for both MetroHealth patients and the Brooklyn community. The site is the latest example of how MetroHealth is stepping up to fill the gaps left by the recent closures of three national-chain retail pharmacies in the area.
“These pharmacies leaving the market are creating pharmacy deserts and making it harder for patients to have access to their medications," said Ryan Mezinger, Senior Vice President, Chief Pharmacy Officer. "We are going to continue to grow operations and fulfill that need.”
MetroHealth’s pharmacy doesn't only serve the health system’s patients. Anyone can get prescriptions filled and take advantage of the benefits they offer, including immunizations on a walk-in or scheduled basis. Home delivery is also available at no additional cost.

"These days, the opening of a pharmacy is indeed a cause for celebration," MetroHealth President and CEO Christine Alexander-Rager MD, told the audience at a recent ribbon-cutting celebration.
"We listened to leaders, lawmakers, patients and families tell us that they needed a pharmacy here to serve Brooklyn and the surrounding communities and neighborhoods. So MetroHealth did what we always do: We stepped up to serve our community," she said.
