A Clinical Trial for the Surgical Treatment of Distal Radius Fracture in the Elderly: Wrist and Radius Injury Surgical Trial

WRIST is an international multi-centered prospective randomized study designed to identify the most appropriate treatment for wrist fractures in the osteoporotic elderly patient. Fragility fractures of the wrist are an increasingly common occurrence and there have been many proposed treatments for these injuries which can result in significant morbidity and impact on patient function and independence. This study could provide powerful information on how to advise and treat these patients regarding their injuries.

Multi-Center Prospective Study of the Treatment for Brachial Palsy

Brachial plexus birth palsy (BPBP) refers to the paralysis of the upper extremity caused by a traction injury of the brachial plexus during birth. BPBP may vary in severity ranging from temporary stretching of the brachial plexus nerves to complete cervical nerve root separation from the spinal cord of part or all of the brachial plexus nerve. This study is a formal protocol of evaluation and treatment, this study may provide for a more organized and thorough means for following and treating infants with this disorder. The information collected from this study will help to further our understanding of the treatment of BPBP and provide more objective data to guide both physicians and families.
