Video Visits with a MetroHealth Provider
MetroHealth is pleased to introduce video visits at our walk-in clinic at the North Royalton Discount Drug Mart!
Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about these unique visits.
What is a video visit?
Video visits allow a MetroHealth provider to use technology to deliver care as if they were with you in the room. Our providers are available to see patients that are two years of age and older. The level of care provided during these visits is the same as any visit with a MetroHealth provider.
Video visits equipment and peripherals allow the medical assistant to electronically transmit diagnostic information such as heart and lung sounds or live video of your throat and ears, so a remote provider can perform an accurate clinical examination.
You will be in a private room at Discount Drug Mart while a MetroHealth provider is in another location. This allows you to have convenient, confidential access to a MetroHealth provider.
At the end of the visit, you’ll receive your after-visit summary which will summarize your visit and identify any next steps.
How does the visit work?
After checking in, you will be escorted to the room where a medical assistant will start your visit with a MetroHealth provider.
During the visit, the medical assistant will help you and the provider in delivering your care. At the end of your visit you will receive an after visit summary.
Details will also become part of your confidential and secure MetroHealth medical record, just like a traditional visit. And you’ll be able to access it by logging into MyChart.
What type of conditions are treated?
Our providers help with many common illnesses, including:
- Coughs, colds and flu symptoms
- Basic eye problems
- Earaches or an ear infection
- Insect bites, stings and rashes
- Sinus infections
School, sports and work physicals are not available through video visits.
How long will a visit last?
On average, each patient is with the provider for about 10-15 minutes.
Can I request a particular MetroHealth provider?
No. You cannot request a specific provider. These visits are designed to compliment the relationship you have with your existing doctor and should not be used to try and create a relationship with a MetroHealth Discount Drug Mart clinic provider.
If you need a Primary Care Provider, MetroHealth offers care at many locations. To find a provider near you, visit metrohealth.org/physiciandirectory
Are these visits private and secure?
Yes. Only you, the medical assistant and the provider on the other end will see each other. Nothing is recorded and no pictures are taken during the live stream.
Video visits use telehealth enabled technology managed and supported by InTouch Health, a MetroHealth solution partner. InTouch Health has been reviewed by MetroHealth Compliance to guarantee they comply with HIPAA for the protection of your privacy.
Are these visits covered by health insurance?
Many health insurance plans currently cover certain telehealth services but some plans do not. In the coming year, federal and state laws are changing to expand coverage of telehealth delivered care services.
