U.S. News Ranks MetroHealth's Rehabilitation Institute Among Top in Nation

U.S. News and World Report has once again ranked the MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute as one of the best in the nation for the care of patients recovering from complex conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury and traumatic spinal cord injury.

Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation

MetroHealth's Weight Loss Surgery and Weight Management Program recently received a distinguished level of re-certification for three years from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) as a Comprehensive Center with Obesity Medicine Qualifications.

MetroHealth's Weight Loss Surgery and Weight Management Center is the first in Ohio to receive this high level of certification.

American Burn Association

MetroHealth's Comprehensive Burn Care Center has been reverified as an adult and pediatric Burn Center by the American Burn Association (ABA) and American College of Surgeons (ACS) Committee on Trauma. MetroHealth is the only hospital in Ohio with an adult and pediatric trauma and Burn Center.

MetroHealth voluntarily participates in the ABA/ACS reverification, and is one of the country's first verified Burn Centers. The joint verification is active through October 2023.

The Healthy Business Council of Ohio Honors MetroHealth with Platinum Award

The Healthy Business Council of Ohio (HBCO) awarded MetroHealth a 2020 Platinum Award for the MetroHealthy Employee Wellness Program, the first year this designation has been available. Our System earned this designation after earning Gold level designations since 2015.

The Healthy Worksite Award recognizes Ohio employers who demonstrate a commitment to employee wellness through comprehensive worksite health promotion and wellness programs.

MetroHealth as One of the 2021 World's Most Ethical Companies for the Second Time

The MetroHealth System has been recognized by Ethisphere, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices, as one of the 2021 World’s Most Ethical Companies.

MetroHealth has been recognized for two years in a row and is one of only seven honorees in the Healthcare Providers industry. In 2021, 135 honorees were recognized spanning 22 countries and 47 industries.

The MetroHealth System has been recognized on Newsweek’s inaugural list of Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers in 2020.

The Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers 2020 ranking lists the best facilities in the 20 states with the largest number of facilities according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Newsweek and Statista designed a rigorous methodology that provided a score for every evaluated rehabilitation center. The scores were based on the reputation survey conducted by Newsweek and Statista and the accreditation score based on CMS data.

For 14 consecutive years, The MetroHealth System has received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award.

The Gold Plus Award recognizes MetroHealth’s commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.

MetroHealth is a recipient of the gold 2021 Commuter Choice Award, a competition sponsored by the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) that recognizes employer-based programs that incentivize employees to find sustainable ways to travel to work. MetroHealth was recognized for its GoOhio Commute subsite, where employees can log their non-drive alone commute (remote work, transit, carpool, bike, walk, bike/carshare, etc.) and earn discounted health insurance premiums.

American College of Surgeons' National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers

The Comprehensive Breast Program at MetroHealth earned accreditation from the American College of Surgeons’ National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) in 2011.

MetroHealth is one of two Cleveland hospitals to receive this accreditation and joins an elite list of 300 NAPBC accredited hospitals across the country.

The MetroHealth Stroke and Cerebrovascular Program is certified by The Joint Commission as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. Our stroke program has joined an elite group of hospitals across the United States responsible for setting the national agenda in highly specialized stroke care.

Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification recognizes those elite hospitals that have services in place to provide the latest, state of the art stroke care with staff trained to treat patients with the most complex strokes. The MetroHealth System underwent a rigorous 2 day onsite review as Joint Commission experts reviewed its compliance with Comprehensive Stroke Center standards of care including advanced imaging capabilities, 24/7 availability of specialized treatments and staff with unique competencies to care for complex stroke patients.

MetroHealth’s Aetna Cardiac IOQ designations include the areas of Cardiac Medical Intervention, Cardiac Rhythm and Cardiac Surgery Programs, an expansion of our previous designation of Cardiac Rhythm only.

NCDR ACTION Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award

The MetroHealth System has received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain ̶ MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award. MetroHealth is one of only 212 hospitals nationwide to receive the honor.

The award recognizes MetroHealth's commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies that our System has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standards of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations.
