, approximately 50 percent of Parkinson's patients will experience severe depression, due both to a loss of dopamine and other important chemicals (creating "an internal depression") and the external depression created by not being able to do the things one is used to doing.
As he told WKYC Channel 3
, if you notice someone with Parkinson's exhibiting signs of depression, including lack of interest in things he or she used to be interested in, you should seek medical help immediately.
