The Breast Center at MetroHealth Opens
(Cleveland) – Whether visiting for routine breast health evaluations or for cancer treatment, patients often are anxious about their health care visit. The MetroHealth System created the Breast Center at MetroHealth to offer all aspects of breast health in one building, simplifying the process for patients and alleviating stress. Creating a soothing environment is the natural next step to complement the compassion, care and comfort that are the hallmarks of the Breast Center which is conveniently located at the West 150th Street Health Center.
The Breast Center at MetroHealth delivers personal, specialized care from a multi-disciplinary team including members of the Departments of Radiology, Surgery and Oncology. Nationally-recognized expert physicians along with patient navigators help ease the experience. It was the third breast center in Ohio to receive full accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a reflection of the high quality, comprehensive care that is delivered.
The technology investment in this center includes the latest 3D technology – the only system-wide use of this technology in Northeast Ohio – allowing for enhanced diagnostic capabilities. This translates into earlier detection and diagnosis of cancer, more treatment options for affected patients and greater opportunity for improved long-term outcomes.
“The risk of breast cancer is a serious concern for all women as it is the second leading cause of cancer death in women in the United States,” said Natalie Joseph, MD, Medical Director of the Breast Center at MetroHealth. “We know that early detection leads to the best outcomes. This new breast center will have advanced technology like 3D mammography and a caring, skilled staff that can perform innovative, minimally invasive procedures and complex cancer surgeries.”
- Digital mammography
- 3D mammography—Breast Tomosynthesis
- Breast ultrasound
- Minimally invasive breast procedures
- Diagnostic and selected therapeutic techniques for benign disease
- On-site consultation with surgical and cancer specialists
- Certified Breast Health Patient Navigator
Advanced technology and a team of skilled and caring physicians is the backbone of our Breast Center at MetroHealth. We are committed to providing a comfortable, supportive environment where our patients and their families can gain access to education and resources to improve their health.
