Metro Life Flight provides a dedicated ground mobile ICU for adult and pediatric critical care patient transfers. Staffed by Metro Life Flight Critical Care transport team, the unit is based at MetroHealth Medical Center and is readily available to serve your patient's critical care needs.
Like the aircraft, the team can be supplemented with neonatal teams, cardiac perfusionists, respiratory therapists or additional medical crew as the mission dictates. The standards for Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) ground transport are always met and exceeded.
The Metro Life Flight Critical Care Ground Unit is available daily from 11 a.m.–11 p.m.

|Thank you to the generous donors who helped MetroHealth reach its goal of raising $125,000 toward the purchase of a new Metro Life Flight Ground Medical Intensive Care Unit. Leading contributors include ArcelorMittal, $10,000; the George W. Codrington Charitable Foundation, $25,000; Darice, Inc.; Elk & Elk Co., Ltd., $25,000; Epic; the Harry K. Fox and Emma R. Fox Charitable Foundation, $10,000; and the Sherwick Fund of the Cleveland Foundation, $25,000. The ground unit transports critically ill and injured patients when Life Flight aircraft can’t be dispatched – during heavy snowstorms, for example, or in urban areas that don’t have enough landing space. The new unit, which will be delivered this summer, will be outfitted with a ventilator, portable ultrasound machine, IV pumps and other equipment that allow for faster treatment.
