The division of endocrinology has taken advantage of a study being conducted by the MetroHealth Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University Center for Healthcare Research and Policy. The project involves the reporting to physicians in the division about the percentage of their patients who meet American Diabetes Association standard of practice for frequency of hemoglobin A1c, lipid determination, urine microalbumin determination, pneumonia vaccination, and success in meeting targets for hemoglobin A1c, systolic blood pressure, and LDL cholesterol. It is anticipated that providing this information to attending physicians will increase compliance with American Diabetes Association standards.
