Emergency Medicine
Ultrasound Fellowship
MetroHealth Medical Center is offering a one-year fellowship in emergency medical ultrasound. The program seeks to prepare future leaders in emergency medicine ultrasound through the development of academic, clinical and administrative skills in emergency ultrasound. The fellowship will provide board-eligible emergency physicians with significant academic as well as hands-on exposure to all areas of emergency ultrasound. Both the hospital administration and the medical staff are supportive of the emergency ultrasound program. State-of-the-art ultrasound equipment is present in the emergency department at all times.

The fellow will be expected to function clinically as an attending in the department and will be responsible for working two shifts/week. During non-clinical hours, the fellow will work closely with the fellowship director and assistant director as well as various physicians in the Departments of Obstetrics/Gynecology, Radiology and Cardiology. A structured block curriculum has been set up to maximize the fellow's learning experience.
The fellow will be expected to sit for the ARDMS examination at the end of the fellowship. Emergency Medicine ultrasound research will also be emphasized during the fellowship. Two research projects are to be completed during the fellowhip with one of the projects to be presented at SAEM.
