Department of Medicine Education Programs

Education

MetroHealth has been a primary teaching hospital of the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine since 1917. All faculty in the Department of Medicine have appointments on the faculty of the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

Medical Student Education

At any given time, approximately 36% of the Case third and fourth year medical students are on the MetroHealth Campus getting clinical training and experience. The Department of Medicine does a disproportionate share of the teaching in the first and second years of medical school training. A recent audit estimated that about 30% of the teaching of the first and second year Case medical students was done by faculty in the Department of Medicine at MetroHealth.
