Obstetrics and Gynecology
Residency Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Dear Residency Candidate: MetroHealth Medical Center is the primary institution for the Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) Integrated Residency Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at MetroHealth and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. This residency is a fully accredited four-year training program for seven residents at each post-graduate year (PGY). Education and supervision is provided by the committed faculty of both institutions, all whom hold teaching positions at CWRU. Residents spend approximately 57% of each year at MetroHealth and the remaining 43% at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Residents at each academic level have identical clinical opportunities at both institutions over the course of each academic year. Both MetroHealth and Cleveland Clinic provide each resident with training in low- and high-risk obstetrics, benign gynecology, infertility, gynecologic oncology, and urogynecology. Residents at both institutions work closely with CWRU medical students, and are expected to develop teaching skills themselves. The combination of the resources of MetroHealth’s and Cleveland Clinic's large, dedicated faculty groups allows residents to profit from exposure to accomplished academicians and researchers whose expertise spans the full breadth of our specialty. Benefits are apparent in clinical practice, research opportunities, and in expanded faculty participation in our core, didactic education program. Sincerely, Thomas M. Frank, M.D. |
