MetroHealth Heart & Vascular Center Does your heart feel like its beating too fast?

Atrial fibrillation (AF), is an abnormal rhythm of the atria (the upper chambers of the heart). It's the most common cardiac arrhythmia, or heart rhythm disorder, and affects an estimated 2.2 million Americans. AF can lead to chronic fatigue, heart failure, other arrthythmias, and stroke.

Symptoms of AF include

  • Heart palpitations (feeling like the heart is racing)
  • Chest pain or pressure
  • Dizziness
  • Sweating
  • Shortness of breath
  • Anxiety
  • Fainting

MetroHealth’s Heart & Vascular Center offers a dedicated team of experts and a wide array of treatment options, including medications, medical devices and procedures to prevent recurrences of AF.

Ohad Ziv, MD, board-certified electrophysiologist who specializes in AF and other arrhythmias, sees patients at MetroHealth Medical Center and MetroHealth Strongsville Health Center. He has received advanced training by international experts in complex ablation procedures for atrial fibrillation and performs these procedures in two state-of-the-art electrophysiology laboratories.

The Cardiac Electrophysiology Program at MetroHealth is internationally recognized for developing innovative approaches for the diagnosis and therapy of complex arrhythmias. The program is also actively involved in a multitude of clinical trials, which brings advanced innovative therapies to patients. Currently, Dr. Ziv is spearheading a new clinical trial designed to improve ablation techniques in the most difficult cases of long standing atrial fibrillation. Cardiac testing is available at MetroHealth Medical Center.

At the Strongsville health center, the following testing is available: echocardiograms, holter and event monitoring, pacemaker and defibrillator evaluation and stress testing.

For an appointment with Dr. Ziv at either location, call 216-778-BEAT (2328).
