2011 Annual Report Access
Increased Patient Access
We launched a special internal campaign to improve patients' access to their primary care physicians by 10%. Read a op-ed piece by Mark Moran that ran in The Plain Dealer to learn more.

MyChart Helps Patients Stay Healthy
More than 10,000 patients signed up for MyChart, rolled out systemwide in December. The online health management tool provides patients free, secure, confidential access to their medical records 24/7. Have you signed up? Register today.

Prescription for Convenience
Imagine: Your doctor orders you a prescription before you leave the exam room — and it's ready when you arrive at your pharmacy. This scenario became reality when the E-Script system was implemented at MetroHealth in June. More than 500,000 prescriptions were sent to pharmacies in the first six months. Learn more.

ED Makeover
We established new Emergency Department rapid medical exam rooms and clinical area to provide capacity for more than 4,500 additional visits per year. This allowed our ED — among the busiest in the nation — to see patients more quickly. Read about how our team managed more than 100,000 emergency visits this year.

Care Everywhere
Our physicians logged more than 10,000 electronic health information exchanges with other providers through Care Everywhere, an innovative "electronic bridge" that allows healthcare systems to exhcange electronic medical records to provide better care. Check out a news article about Care Everywhere.

Efficient, Expert Care
By employing technological advances and strategic operations management, physician productivity overall increased 12.7%. Innovations include the Implementation of voice recognition software in our radiology department, decreasing the average report turnaround time to 12 hours. This means patients can receive their imaging results faster.

Our team also increased patient access for inpatient services by reducing the average length of stay among acute adult patients by 14% and increasing discharges by noon by 30%.

Reaching Out
Although we had 846,627 outpatient visits at MetroHealth's 17 locations last year, we also took our healthcare team into the community and completed more than 6,300 health screenings at local events throughout Cuyahoga County. Join us at an upcoming health fair or physician talk in your community.
