MetroHealth Spine Center Rehabilitation/Physical & Occupational Therapy

MetroHealth’s well-trained therapy team is skilled in a wide array of options to help Spine Center patients obtain their best spine health and get back to living life to its fullest.

Physical therapy is very effective in alleviating the stress that is dynamically experienced from the skull all the way down to the pelvis and tail bone.  When comparing treatment options available in the area of comprehensive spine care, physical rehabilitation is one of the most trustworthy and effective options available.

Once a qualified physician is able to skillfully diagnose your condition, the physical therapist will work with you.  The goal of physical therapy is to manage pain by re-conditioning or rehabilitating the spine to be able to handle stress and decrease pain by improving the biomechanics of the spine, restoring body posture and function, to allow the body to heal naturally.

Once the soft tissues and muscles of the body are functioning better with the joints, discs, ligaments and nerves of the spine, the result is better distribution of stress throughout the body, thereby alleviating pain from the structures that are generating pain.

These holistic treatments are monitored by your caring physician who manages the rehabilitation course, and provides an interdisciplinary approach with colleagues in physical medicine and rehabilitation, pain management and our surgical colleagues.

Your pain can be managed with the use of various spinal procedures or other more invasive techniques as well.  The goal here is to decrease pain so that function can be optimized while the rehabilitation services continue.
