MetroHealth Simulation Center
Programs & Capabilities
The MetroHealth Simulation Center is a multidisciplinary/multispecialty resource, serving healthcare providers within MetroHealth and in the greater community.
Our faculty and staff create programs to serve the needs of a particular group. Emphasis is placed on designing programs to meet specific objectives utilizing all of our resources including:
Programs can take place within the Center, in-situ, or off-site. Those that take place within the Center allow instructors to efficiently train and evaluate a large number of participants, taking full advantage of the Center's capabilities.
In-situ programs take place in the actual clinical environment while replacing a real patient with a simulator. This method provides the distinct advantage of increased realism and learner buy-in, leading to improved situational and environmental awareness. Well designed 'in-situ' programs can even lead to improved operational efficiency and process improvement.
Off-site programs allow the center to participate in other educational conferences and provide a level of convenience to outside groups seeking to bring simulation methods to their training programs.
The Center provides and array of resources to create high-quality programs. By creating a risk-free environment for trainees to deliberately practice all aspects of patient care, simulation helps to improve patient safety, educational efficiency and learner satisfaction.
Depending on the objectives, programs can be designed to include a range of situations - from routine interactions and procedures to high-acuity, high-intensity scenarios.
It allows multidisciplinary teams to train together as well as individuals at all levels to develop, practice and refine their skills.
