The MetroHealth Simulation Center will benefit our clinicians, our institution and, most importantly, our patients.Make Innovation a Reality
Imagine a dedicated, centralized space at MetroHealth with high-fidelity computerized simulators and virtual reality based platforms that simulate actual medical scenarios.

Envision a training room that looks identical to an emergency department resuscitation bay, operating room, ICU, inpatient or clinic room, where trainees administer care to a human-like simulator as their supervisors critically observe via cameras, monitors and one-way mirrors.

The Need is Clear
The creation of an integrated, on-site simulation center will provide greater benefit to our clinicians, our institution and, most importantly, our patients.

Experts agree: Simulation is the future of medical training, and clinicians must develop and maintain their skills, similar to the way airline pilots do — by training in a simulator. In fact, many physicians will be required to document simulation training hours to maintain their board certification. Doctors, nurses, first-responders and other care providers will benefit from this high-tech space by training together as a team.

“We have a several important drivers for this initiative — health care quality, patient safety and clinician training and certification,” said Thomas Noeller, MD, Co-Director, Emergency Medicine Simulation Program.  “MetroHealth is a leader in these areas, and we must leverage our strengths to develop this program and serve our mission.”
