The Children's Hospital at MetroHealth Medical Center
Letter From the Chair

As the Interim Chair of the Department of Pediatrics, it is my pleasure to introduce you to the training programs in Pediatrics at MetroHealth. As a pediatrician, day in and day out, you must balance the exhilaration of helping and healing children with the reality of chronic illness, serious injury, and even death. As a pediatrician, I believe the stakes are higher yet the rewards are greater. We are often charged not only with taking care of the physical well-being of a child, but willingly inherit the responsibility of providing holistic support a child needs to get better. The Children’s Hospital at MetroHealth is one of the largest providers of health care to infants, children, and adolescents in Northeast Ohio. More than 75 faculty members supervise residents, medical students and other health professionals in serving more than 5,000 inpatient admissions and over 60,000 outpatient visits annually.
Our Pediatric Residency Program is designed to provide a comprehensive, well-balanced three-year experience in Pediatrics, to promote the personal and professional growth of each resident through clinical experiences, educational opportunities, and intellectual stimulation.
Our residents are well equipped to become advocates for the biomedical and psychosocial health of children and adolescents, and they are well prepared to enter any area of Pediatrics. We work as a family at the Children's Hospital at MetroHealth, and we have fun being here.
Sincerely,
Margaret Stager, M.D. Interim Chair, Department of Pediatrics MetroHealth Medical Center Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University
