Obstetrics and Gynecology Permanent Birth Control Options

Is your family complete?

For women who are done with child-bearing, there is no need to take a pill every day or continue to worry about unplanned pregnancy.

MetroHealth OB/GYNs offer a non-surgical, hormone-free permanent birth control procedure that frees you from worrying about unplanned pregnancy for good.

Performed in the office in about 10 minutes, this non-invasive birth control procedure is a proven solution for women that doesn't require surgery, burning, anesthesia or slowing down to recover.

Experienced Care

MetroHealth is home to the highest number of physicians certified in this procedure at one hospital location than any other local health system in the Cleveland area. In addition, MetroHealth has performed more of these procedures than any other institution.

How It Works

During the procedure, small, flexible micro-inserts are placed in the woman’s fallopian tubes through the vagina and cervix. Within three months, the body forms a natural barrier around the micro-inserts that prevents the sperm from reaching the egg. A woman must continue to use another form of birth control during this time.

Three months after the procedure, a doctor will perform a confirmation test to confirm that the tubes are fully blocked and that the woman can rely on insert for permanent birth control. The procedure has been proven to be 99.8% effective

If a women is absolutely sure her family is complete, this is a wonderful and non-invasive option.
