Our Pediatric Rheumatology staff provides inpatient and outpatient consultations and ongoing care for children and adolescents with rheumatologic and chronic inflammatory joint and bone diseases, including:

  • Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus
  • Juvenile dermatomyositis
  • Juvenile spondyloarthropathy
  • Psoriatic arthritis
  • Pediatric vasculitis syndromes
    • Such as Henoch-Schönlein purpura, Kawasaki Disease, Polyarteritis Nodosa, and Wegener's granulomatosis
  • Post-infectious reactive arthritis
  • Rheumatic fever
  • Periodic fever syndromes
  • Mixed connective tissue diseases
  • Familial Mediterranean disease
  • Behcet’s disease
  • Inflammatory bowel diseases
    • Such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis-related arthritis
  • Pediatric bone diseases
  • Osteoporosis

Pediatric Bone Health Clinic

Pediatric Rheumatology also holds a Pediatric Bone Health Clinic at the main campus and the Beachwood offices providing care for children and adolescents with bone health and bone growth problems such as

  • Children with osteoporosis
  • Osteogenesis Imperfecta
  • Growth delay
  • Multiple fractures

Pediatric Rheumatology Division is involved in both basic research that investigates the growth hormones in children with arthritis and stem cell treatment in mice models of lupus.

The Pediatric Rheumatology Division conducts clinical research, which includes new therapies in juvenile idiopathic arthritis, and other rheumatologic diseases of childhood.
