MetroHealth Dialogue Feature Story

MetroHealth specialist targets sleep apnea in pregnancy

Interrupted sleep can be dangerous for pregnant women and their babies if sleep apnea is involved, says Dr. Judette Marie Louis. While about 5% of women who aren't pregnant have sleep apnea, that number doubles for mothers-to-be.

Early treatment of fractures means fewer complications

A new study lead by orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Heather Vallier indicates that waiting to treat fractures may not be the right thing to do, and MetroHealth has options for both that internist and ER physician.

Interventional radiologist offers 24/7 access to fellow physicians

Quick access for fellow physicians is central to the work done by experienced interventional radiologist J. Scott Williams, MD, PhD, who recently joined the staff at MetroHealth.

MetroHealth experts help prevent sudden cardiac arrest

Sudden cardiac death or arrest (SCD or SCA) is a leading cause of death in the United States. MetroHealth's Heart & Vascular Center is home to leading experts in SCD who routinely work with referring physicians to determine what the patients' risk for SCD is and how to prevent it.

MetroHealth has the only PICU on the west side

MetroHealth's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit offers the services of a pediatric hospital in a more personal setting under the leadership of Daniel J. Lebovitz, MD, PICU Medical Director.

Cancer patients can be seen more quickly

Radiation oncologist Peter M. Laye, MD, says cancer patients referred to him for treatment can usually be seen within 24 hours at MetroHealth thanks to new treatment planning CT and the Pinnacle treatment planning system.
