Pediatrics Neurology Preparing for an Appointment
Meet the Team | Preparing for an Appointment | Adult Neurology Services

There are no shots or needles during an office visit. The neurological examination consists of talking and testing. We will ask your child to perform a series of simple maneuvers, such as coordination, strength, sensory, reflex, and walking tests. These procedures help us to check the function of different parts of the brain.

Next, with you and/or your child, we will review the diagnosis, discuss further testing, and develop a management plan.

Items to Bring

If development or school difficulties are at issue, it helps to bring:

  • A baby book or other record of developmental milestones
  • Teacher reports from as many years as possible, including early elementary school
  • A written note from current teachers describing their observations
  • Copies of any psychological or educational testing
