Community Breast Cancer Outreach
Patient Stories
Since 2005, the BREAST program has screened 3,100 women for breast cancer and many of them have shared their experiences with us. Below is a sampling of stories from community members like you.
"I had never had a mammogram before, and was very scared. The staff was very encouraging and helped me." – Gwen
“I knew I had a lump, but I would not have gone to the doctor to get a breast exam if it wasn’t for the screening at the church. I would never have found breast cancer.” – Ana Maria
“If it weren’t for MetroHealth, none of these women would have gotten mammograms. Bringing the services to the church reaches more women.” – Pastor Jose Reyes, Nueva Vida Church
“Everyone at the screening was so nice. I’ve never had doctors treat me with such respect.” – Maria
“I was so impressed with everyone at MetroHealth. Everybody was so professional and friendly. I didn’t have to wait long at all. Everything was so well orchestrated, the system flowed. I went to another hospital system previously because my daughter was sick, but after this health fair and breast screening, I made an appointment with MetroHealth." – Anonymous
"I’ve heard about MetroHealth but had no idea really what you all did. I would now come back to anything that MetroHealth does!" – Loretta
“Your Health Fair at La Sagrada Familia was invaluable to me. My worries about my health in important areas have been put to rest since my mammogram. I hope you are able to continue the needed help that the Cancer Care Center provides to people without health insurance. – Carol
Where I work they don’t cover mammograms. Can you believe that? And it’s private insurance. One would think an organization this large would provide coverage for mammograms. I‘m still paying for my last mammogram. I’m going to write a letter to your CEO to let him know how great MetroHealth is. Thank God for MetroHealth. – Anonymous
